SUNY Cobleskill Student Wins Girl Scouts’ Highest Honor

From The Daily Star — An 18-year-old Delaware County native recently earned the highest award in Girl Scouts for a project aimed at helping veterans gain knowledge of and access to services and benefits.

Rebecca Jones of Grand Gorge was one of five area Girl Scouts to receive the prestigious Girl Scout Gold Award, which is equivalent to the Eagle Scout rank in Boy Scouts. She and the other four women were recognized last week at a Young Women of Distinction luncheon, officials said.

Jones — who graduated from Roxbury Central School and attends SUNY Cobleskill for early childhood development — said her project, titled ‘America’s Best!,’ was inspired by a long family history of military service.
