StoryCorps to Record SUNY Cobleskill Memories at Centennial Homecoming

StoryCorps, a national oral history project, is coming to SUNY Cobleskill to record and preserve the stories of the College community.

Recordings will take place over three days during Centennial Homecoming, from Sept. 22 through Sept. 24, at the Van Wagenen Library. SUNY Cobleskill hopes to capture stories from alumni and friends about their time spent at the College and how it shaped their lives and careers.

As SUNY Cobleskill celebrates its Centennial, we invite our community of faculty, staff, alumni, family and friends to add their personal stories and memories to our ongoing story. Did you meet the love of your life here? Start your career here? Learn something important about yourself? We want to hear it.

A StoryCorps interview is 40 minutes of uninterrupted time for meaningful conversation between two people who know each other. It’s an opportunity to ask the questions that matter and preserve stories for future generations.

At the end of each session, participants take home a CD of the conversation, and with permission, a copy will be archived at the Library of Congress and at SUNY Cobleskill’s Van Wagenen Library.

The recording sessions will take place during our eventful and historic Centennial Homecoming weekend. The celebration will begin Friday evening and culminate on Saturday with a Centennial Parade and fireworks show on campus.

The number of recording sessions is limited. To participate in StoryCorps, make a reservation by contacting Beth Orgeron at 255-5842 or orgeroed@cobleskill.edu.
