Roger Meier, a ’99 graduate of the Turfgrass Management program, is a Class A golf superintendent and 17-year member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA). Meier is the superintendent of the golf course where the 96th PGA Championship is being held in Louisville, KY.
Meier has been prepping the Valhalla Golf Club course for the PGA event, which is taking place from August 7-10. The renovation, costing in the multi-millions, has taken over a year to complete and includes major changes to the turf grass. Meier said, “One main concern in regards to the future of Valhalla Golf Club course conditions and ensuring that our renovation would provide championship quality greens for years to come was the careful and tedious selection of a new type of bent grass for our putting surfaces.”
The PGA of America is the largest sports organization in the world, with over 27,000 golf professionals as members.
