Erika Gauthier was named president of the board of directors of the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce. Gauthier was named interim president in October.

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) recognized two Capital Region contractors for demonstrating excellence in helping homeowners reduce their energy use and make homes safer and more comfortable in 2013 through the Home Performance with Energy Star program. A. Johnson Home Comfort Inc. of Gloversville received NYSERDA’s Outstanding New Contractor award, and Polsinello Fuels Inc of Rensselaer received the Home Performance with Energy Star Top Performing Contractor award, one of eight regional awards across the State.

Wanda Rose Miller, a financial adviser at First New York Federal Credit Union, received the 2014 Women of Distinction Award from CUNA Brokerage Services Inc. The award recognizes top female financial advisers throughout the nation.

Keith E. Buerker, a professor at SUNY Cobleskill, was named the best culinary educator in the Northeast by the American Culinary Federation.

Ellis Medicine was honored by Gartner Inc. and awarded the 2014 Gartner Enterprise Information & MDM Excellence Award, which recognizes world-class enterprise information management initiatives and shares successes, challenges and insights.

Tech Valley High School teacher Leah Penniman won a Fulbright Distinguished Award in Teaching by the United States Department of State. Penniman, a science teacher, will spend six months in Mexico writing curriculum and helping craft projects for use in schools there.
