SUNY Cobleskill is proud to be ranked number one for the seventh year in a row by the American Red Cross, maintaining its position as the SUNY School with the highest percentage of blood donations. Over the 2013 – 2014 academic year, generous staff, faculty, and students donated 518 units of blood throughout four American Red Cross blood drives hosted by the SUNY Cobleskill Student Government Association.

The College is immensely proud of its partnership with the American Red Cross, which is the largest blood collection organization in the world. SUNY Cobleskill’s continued success with these blood drives demonstrate the dedication of students and faculty alike to remain highly active in service opportunities. “We are proud that our efforts to support the American Red Cross have paid off,” said Jeff Foote, Director of the Student Life Center. “It’s become a great tradition to maintain our top status over the last 7 years. The campus has grown its service opportunities tremendously over the years, and the role that we have played with our blood drives has paralleled that growth.”

Steven Ackerknecht, Vice President for Student Affairs, emphasizes how a campus-wide commitment to giving creates life-changing results on a worldwide scale. “This award is a testament to our caring community and leadership commitment of students and the Student Life Center. When compared to other campuses, SUNY Cobleskill’s Red Cross blood donation drive is off the charts. Clearly this is a meaningful goal to accomplish and it results in the saving of lives. Now that’s making a difference!”
