SUNY Cobleskill is excited to present Farmland: The Next Generation of Farmers, a film by James Moll, in the SUNY Cobleskill Bouck Theater, 7:00 pm, on October 22, 2014. Admission is free. Whether farming is your everyday reality or a total unknown, SUNY Cobleskill welcomes you to enjoy an evening spotlighting the high-risk, high-reward reality that encompasses today’s farming industry. Upon the conclusion of the film, viewers are encouraged to stay and participate in question and answer session with a panel of representatives from the New York Beef Council, the New York Corn and Soybean Association and the New York Pork Producers. Two $100 Steak House gift cards will be given at random to viewers who complete a pre and post film survey.
Placing the audience in the heart of today’s farming culture, Farmland provides a glimpse into the lives of six young farmers and ranchers who have taken on the responsibility of operating their own businesses. Taking a “hands-off” approach, director James Moll sought to depict the day-to-day lives of current farmers and ranchers with as little intervention as possible. Past projects have earned James Moll an Oscar, two Emmys and a Grammy. With the documentary Farmland, Moll delivers an authentic representation of diverse individuals who all share the same passion for a way of life that for many has been passed down from generation to generation.
SUNY Cobleskill will be the first stop on the Farmland campus tour. The evening’s sponsors include the New York Beef Council, the New York Corn and Soybean Growers Association and the New York Pork Producers. All are welcome to attend. For more information regarding Farmland, visit their website.
