SUNY Cobleskill encourages the public to attend the 2014 Holiday Farmers’ Market and Bazaar on November 14 from 12 – 6 pm, and November 15, from 9 am – 3 pm, at the SUNY Cobleskill Bouck Ballroom. The event celebrates distinct local artisans and farmers throughout Schoharie County, as well as SUNY Cobleskill students and student clubs.
The Holiday Farmers’ Market and Bazaar boasts an impressive selection of local artisans and farmers. Visitors will find a vast array of products for their holiday gift-giving Several local farms will be participating, offering a various food products such as maple products, handmade chocolate candies, honey, dip mixes, fresh vegetables and cheese, baked goods and beef, poultry and lamb meat. The Schoharie Central School FFA will be taking orders for those interested in boxes of citrus, to be delivered in December.
Holiday Farmers’ Market and Bazaar attendees seeking craft and artisan products can enjoy handmade merchandise such as beeswax candles, goat and sheep’s milk soaps, Schoharie Valley blankets, shawls, rural focus paintings, herbal lotions and products and country décor. Local fiber producers will be supplying raw and finished products of angora, alpaca, and wool. Look for scarves, hats, mittens, felted items, yarn, and rovings. Other vendors will be offering clothing, blankets, hats, mittens, scarves, and decorative items of their own handiwork in crochet, knitting, and sewing. Crafters will offer wreaths in a variety of materials.
A diverse collection of SUNY Cobleskill student clubs and academic concentrations will be participating in the Farmers’ Market and Bazaar as vendors and concessions. The International Club will be welcoming visitors into an Arab-inspired tent to enjoy coffee or tea while learning about the culture. The Archery Club will be on hand to sell small signs and feather jewelry, while Early Childhood students will sell mittens and hats in honor of the upcoming visit of beloved New York Times Bestselling Children’s Author and Artist, Jan Brett. The Plant Science club will sell terrariums as well as taking orders for decorative greenery. The campus Woodsmen’s Club will not only be contributing various wood products for retail, but will also be providing the food concession for the event. Transportation from the Visitor’s Parking lot to Bouck Ballroom and back will be offered by the College’s Ag-Engineering students.
