SUNY Cobleskill’s Dairy Judging Team had a very fruitful season after competing in four national contests. The Dairy Judging Team placed first in the Eastern States Expo in West Springfield, MA, second at the All American Dairy Show in Harrisburg, PA, second high team at the World Dairy Expo (WDE) in Madison, WI, and first at the North American International Livestock Expo in Louisville, KY.
SUNY Cobleskill has achieved high team recognition at the NAILE, North American International Livestock Expo, in six of the last nine years. And due to the team’s second place finish at the WDE, the team has received an invitation from the Scottish Young Farmers to judge at the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh, Scotland in June 2015. This is the team’s seventh time in the past nine years that they have received this honor.
“I am extremely impressed with this team’s determination and work ethic to succeed,” remarked John Tryon, Emeriti Faculty at SUNY Cobleskill and the team’s coach. “They needed little motivation from me, and have been an extreme pleasure to coach.”
Erika Gogis, a Dairy Judging Team member, had nothing but positive things to say about her overall experience. “Being on the judging team was an experience like none other,” Erika states. “I feel like the Dairy Judging Team is one of many things this campus has to support students involved in agriculture. Going to the biggest dairy shows in North America, seeing incredible animals and making the memories that we did was irreplaceable.”
