The SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers eclipsed the competition this past weekend at the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Swimming and Diving Championship. After compiling the best three-day score out of the four-team field, the Fighting Tigers won their very first NEAC Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship title with an overall 655 team points earned. The Fighting Tigers were also recognized for their exceptional performance in the women’s division, placing second to the Cazenovia College Wildcats with a team total of 492 points. SUNY Cobleskill was the host site of the three-day tournament held from Friday, February 13, through Sunday, February 15.
Individually, SUNY Cobleskill sophomore Brian Alt and Cazenovia College junior Logan Marshall were both selected by the conference coaches as NEAC Co-Swimmers of the Year. Alt, a two-time NEAC Swimmer of the Week selection, won four events at the championship meet. SUNY Cobleskill freshman Kirk Bailey was voted as the NEAC Rookie of the Year after winning three events at finals.
Nicole Damiano, the SUNY Cobleskill men’s and women’s swimming & diving program head coach, was tabbed as the NEAC Coach of the Year by her peers. She led the Fighting Tigers to nine dual-meet victories this year in addition to their first championship crown.
