The Student Veterans Resource Center, a newly renovated space for student veterans to study and relax, celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, April 9, 2015.
Located in Warner Hall room 105, the Student Veterans Resource Center provides student veterans with the resources, support, and advocacy to succeed in college. The center includes a lounge area, a computer lab and a Veteran’s Affairs office where students can receive peer to peer support.
“In 2013, President Obama sent a letter to college presidents that spotlighted “8 Keys to Success” in supporting student veterans. One of these fundamental keys included developing a veteran center. Additionally, The Department of the Defense, Veteran Affairs and Student Veterans of America highlight veteran centers as a key resource for veterans on college campuses,” said Mathew LaLonde, Director of Judicial and Veteran’s Affairs at SUNY Cobleskill. “The SUNY Cobleskill Veterans Affairs Office has worked diligently with numerous campus organizations to make this center a reality. We cannot thank these departments and individuals enough for their assistance in providing our student veterans with this fantastic space.”
