The 4th Annual Culinary Extravaganza: A Delicious Success

Guests Enjoy an Evening of Exquisite Culinary Creations While Raising Money for Student Success

Tantalizing taste-buds and pleasing palates of all who attend, the 4th Annual Culinary Extravaganza, held on April 17, 2015, was a delicious success. Hosted by the SUNY Cobleskill College Foundation, guests were treated to culinary delights such as butternut shiitake risotto, BBQ sundaes, chicken spiedies and polenta topped with kale and mustard greens. Almost $30,000.00 was raised, all while spotlighting Farm to Table dining. Approximately 260 people attended the event.

A variety of local eateries and producers were featured throughout 23 stations, including: Stone House Maple, Michael Lapi’s Farm to Table Class, Cowbella, Dave Campbell’s Taste Trends & Technologies Class, Altamont Vineyard & Winery, Windy Hill Goat Farm, and Capital City Roasters. Rich Benninger’s Catering and Advanced Catering Classes provided expert service. Yono Purnomo, CEC, CFBE, served as the Honorary Chair of the event, which was sponsored by Citizens Bank, Sterling Insurance Company, and Beech-Nut. Blues Maneuver provided musical entertainment.

Grapevine Farms and CAS (SUNY Cobleskill Auxiliary Services, Inc.) served as Aspiring Student Chef Sponsors, while Clifford C. Hay, Inc., Coca-Cola, Yono’s, and US Foods were Celebrity Chef Sponsors. The Culinary Station Sponsors were Antonucci’s, Fenimore Asset Management, and Brooks House of BBQ.

During the event, Foundation Board President Tim Purcell received a conditional gift of $500 that required guests to match the gift. Within five minutes, fifteen donors offered more than $3,000. Also new this year was a silent auction of several photographic reproductions of the SUNY Cobleskill Alumni Archives. Each one was matted and framed by members of the College Community and raised over $1,000 collectively.
