Three Steps to Zero-Sort Recycling on Campus

As the new semester begins, educate yourself – or get a refresher course – on the Zer0-Sort® recycling at SUNY Cobleskill.

In just three steps you can learn the what, how and why of Zero-Sort® recycling.

Step 1. Watch the video “Zero-Sort” produced by Victor Igbokwe, winner of the Campus Earth Day Video Contest

Step 2. Check out the Casella Zero-Sort® infographic to learn what can be put in the Zero-Sort® (blue) waste cans.

Step 3. See what happens to the recycled materials after they are taken off campus with this tour of the Casella center.

The next time you need to throw out waste paper or a soda bottle, seek out a blue recycling bin. Now that you’re up-to-date on the Zero-Sort® campaign, you know it is okay to put containers and paper in the same bin since they get mixed to together on their way to the recycling facility anyway. Finally, try to reuse paper that was printed on one side only and don’t forget to empty containers of lingering liquids.

If you’re interested in learning even more about Zer0-Sort®, or to take your own virtual tour of the recycling center visit Casella’s website!
