This summer, Clara Richardson, a senior Biotechnology student at SUNY Cobleskill, will be one of eight SUNY undergraduates to participate in the Summer Research Fellowship Program at SUNY Upstate Medical University. For ten weeks this summer, she will research under the supervision of an established biomedical scientist in one of Upstate’s labs, write a research paper and have the opportunity to see her work published. Clara’s acceptance into the competitive program is an honor; she was chosen out of 200 applicants.

“I have always had a strong passion for the field of science, and by attending SUNY Cobleskill I was able to foster that passion through a degree in Biotechnology” explained Clara. “By attending the SURF program, I look forward to expanding my horizons by gaining hands-on experience in a cutting-edge research facility. The ability to explore biomedical sciences while also networking with professionals in the research sector is a great opportunity.”

Her passion for biotechnology is leading Clara to pursue a graduate degree in Biomedical Sciences after graduation. The SURF program will further prepare her for graduate studies and give her the opportunity to excel in the scientific research sector.

“I am so extremely eager and fortunate to have been selected to participate in the SURF program. I would like to thank Dr. Zeng and Dr. McMaster-Schuyler for their continuous support throughout my academic career.”
