Opening new doors: College to roll out Food Systems degree

All across campus at SUNY-Cobleskill students are getting their hands dirty.  

They are moving fish from one massive hatchery tank to another. They are waking up before the crack of dawn to milk dozens of dairy cows. They are fl ipping carefully crafted omelets. They are studying the difference between sole proprietorships and LLCs and growing tomatoes and lettuce and raising pigs and goats and sheep.  

They are learning — and practicing — nearly every role and job that goes into putting food in the mouths of humans across the planet. And they may even be dreaming up a few new ones of their own.   But not until now did the school have a single degree program that encapsulated everything the college has to offer. …”
