From The Daily Star, 04/19/16 — Budding chefs from around the region went spatula-to-spatula this weekend at the Bassett Research Institute’s annual Junior Iron Chef competition, held Saturday at the State University College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill.
Of the 24 teams competing, “Savor 20-16,” from Otsego Northern Catskill BOCES, came out on top, according to Chris Burrington, the Research Institute’s 5-2-1-0 Initiative coordinator. The team’s winning recipe was for spinach and black bean enchiladas with fresh salsa and refried beans.
“It was an awesome day,” said Burrington. Students whipped up “dishes not only savory, but healthy too,” she said.
