Summer Camp Students Learn 3D Printing and Design at SUNY Cobleskill

Last week, 10 students in grades seven through 10 spent five days at SUNY Cobleskill learning about Computer Aided Design, 3D printing, measurement and the design process in our 3D Printing and Design summer camp.

Learning three design packages — TinkerCAD, 123D Design, and AutoDESK Inventor — students designed and printed a name plate, a keychain, and other items from the Thingiverse website. For a final project at the end of the week, students designed and built the wheels and body for a propeller-powered race car.

In building the cars, they also learned the fundamentals of electrical systems and how to wire and solder their race cars. They then pitted their creations against one another in a drag race.
