SUNY Cobleskill’s Morgan O’Sullivan Places High at IHSA Nationals

Junior Morgan O’Sullivan made SUNY Cobleskill history last week when she placed 5th out of 26 riders from across the country in the American Quarter Horse Association High Point Western Rider competition at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Championships in Kentucky.

O’Sullivan is only the second SUNY Cobleskill rider in the history of IHSA to qualify for Nationals and the highest placed finisher. There are 10,000 members of IHSA across the country, and only 425 riders make it to Nationals each year.

SUNY Cobleskill also sent five horses to Nationals, all of whom performed well.

The achievement caps a historic season for the College’s Western Equestrian Team, which won its first-ever regional championship by racking up a total of 234 points over the course of eight IHSA competitions.
