“I Challenge Myself” Bike Tour Visits SUNY Cobleskill

The intrepid cyclists of the “I Challenge Myself” Bike Tour visited SUNY Cobleskill Thursday on their 400-mile, 7-day tour of colleges across New York State.

The tour aims to expose the high school students to a broad variety of colleges and challenge them to “aspire, focus, and prepare for college and life after high school.”

At SUNY Cobleskill, the students learned about the College’s academic programs and took a campus tour including residence halls, the Old Quad, the Center for Agriculture and Natural Resources, and the livestock barns. They also attended an information session about SUNY Cobleskill and the application process.

The tour includes stops at Syracuse University, Cornell University, SUNY Binghamton, SUNY Oneonta, Bard College, and West Point. The students cycle between 50 and 80 miles per day, waking up at 6 a.m. and arriving at a new college by lunch time. They meet admissions staff and current students, tour each campus, and learn about academic programs. The bike tour was preceded by a 5-day college prep session in New York City.
