U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Names SUNY Cobleskill Alumni Regional Chiefs

Two SUNY Cobleskill alumni have earned new appointments in the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. Chris Dwyer (A.A.S. ‘86) and Kevin Lowry (B.T. ‘00) have been appointed to serve as regional chiefs of hunting and fishing. Dwyer’s appointment will have him serving as Regional Chief of Hunting and Fishing in the Northeast Region, encompassing 13 states. Lowry has been appointed to lead the Southeast Region, encompassing 10 states, as well as Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Both alumni previously held positions with the USFWS. Dwyer worked as a migratory game bird biologist, and Lowry as a deputy refuge supervisor. The two are part of a team leading efforts to implement Secretarial Orders and USFWS regulation, policy, and guidance aimed at enhancing access and opportunities to promote recruitment, retention, and reactivation of American sportsmen and women.

The USFWS’s Northeast Region’s main offices are located in Hadley, MA; the Southeast Region’s main offices are located in Atlanta. SUNY Cobleskill congratulates Chris Dwyer and Kevin Lowry on their appointments.
