College Community Comes Together for 33rd Annual Foundation Golf Tournament

Cobleskill, NY – Over 125 golfers participated in the 33rd Annual Foundation Golf Tournament, at Cobleskill Golf & Country Club on Friday, June 7. The tournament, a collaborative effort between the College Foundation and Department of Athletics, raised over $21,000 in support of the College Foundation. The mission of the College Foundation is to develop additional resources to enable the College to provide quality educational experiences for its students.

“This year’s tournament is one of our best-attended, both in terms of the number of players, and the considerable support from our event sponsors,” says SUNY Cobleskill Vice President for Development John Zacharek. “The degree to which members of our campus community, Cobleskill community, friends of the College, and alumni network have been involved is incredible. Their participation makes this a great event.”

Cloudless skies and endless sunshine made for exquisite playing conditions. “Daily Gazette” Golf Writer Bob Weiner, who played in this year’s tournament, was among those who complimented the efforts in upkeep of Bear Briggs and his staff from Cobleskill Golf & Country Club. By all accounts, the course was in tremendous playing shape.

It is with the utmost appreciation of their contributions, time, and thoughtfulness that SUNY Cobleskill thanks all who participated in this year’s event. The College is fortunate to have the support of so many excellent golfers, sponsors, and volunteers. We look forward to next year’s tournament, and a fantastic year of growth in the interim.
