Earlier this month, local pro bass fisherman and member of SUNY Cobleskill’s Facilities team Roy Bilby reeled in the 30,000th bass of his life on the water — a total as impressive as the detailed logs Bilby keeps of his catches dating back to 1986. Bilby serves as co-advisor of SUNY Cobleskill’s oft-triumphant Bass Fishing Club and Team, imparting his wisdom on the next generation of area anglers.

Three years ago, we caught up with Bilby after catching his 26,482nd bass. The 3,518 bass he has snagged since give him an average of more than three fish a day in the last three years.

Rich Bach joined Bilby on the water and witnessed catch number 30,000. Bach’s profile is available here.

On behalf of SUNY Cobleskill, congratulations on this remarkable total. Here’s to the next 30,000!
