SUNY Cobleskill is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Gail Wentworth as dean of the School of Business and Liberal Arts and Sciences (BLAS). With nearly 20 years of experience at SUNY Cobleskill, Dr. Wentworth brings to the position creativity, a passion for teaching and learning, experience as a department chair and interim dean, and a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration.

Dr. Wentworth is a professor of Early Childhood studies whose professional interests are infant-early childhood mental health, multiculturalism through international education, and the value of animals in young children’s lives. She has published articles and presented on a variety of early childhood topics, domestically and internationally.

Her appointment comes following the completion of a search process that included committee representation from all BLAS departments, the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Educational Support Services, the Library, UPD/Emergency Management, Facilities, Grants and Sponsored Programs, and the Registrar’s office.

“Dr. Wentworth joins us as our College enters a pivotal phase of transition toward the future. A time in which we extend our work to diversify our campus ecosystem and deepen our commitment to providing our students cross-disciplinary learning in a way that doesn’t exist anywhere else,” said Dr. Marion Terenzio, president of SUNY Cobleskill. “It is an advantage to our campus to have her, a skilled practitioner with a spirited dedication to advancing our programs, on our leadership team as we continue to grow, sustain, and renew this great institution and the local and global communities we serve.”

“Dr. Wentworth has brought a visionary approach to our Early Childhood Education program and, as interim dean, has seized opportunities to expand our offerings across our majors to give students unique experiences in applied learning,” said Susan Zimmermann, provost of SUNY Cobleskill. “We will look to her to create new pathways for students that will continue to set our curriculums apart and further position the College as a leader in place-based education.”

“She is an accomplished professional, but the personal attributes that Dr. Wentworth brings to this role are equally important. She is, without a doubt, one of the most caring and decent people with whom I have ever worked. In times of uncertainty, it is comforting to know that our school is led by an ethical and compassionate individual who is focused on not only the business of advancing our programs but supporting the people behind them,” said Howard Huth, Director, SUNY Cobleskill Paramedic Program.

SUNY Cobleskill’s School of Business and Liberal Arts and Sciences features a wide range of majors with applied learning opportunities to help students prepare for their careers in a setting that mirrors the realities of the modern workplace. Bachelor’s degrees are available in fields of Early Childhood, Natural Sciences, and Communications.
