Michael Wacksman, Associate Director of Student Leadership, Honored with APCA National College Advisor of the Year Award

Michael Wacksman, SUNY Cobleskill’s Associate Director of Student Leadership, has been named the National College Advisor of the Year Award by the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities (ACPA). Wacksman accepted the award earlier this month, surrounded by student members of the College’s Campus Engagement Board and more than 165 colleges that attended the ACPA’s annual conference.

“The award was a total surprise, and it means a lot,” said Wacksman. “There are so many talented and gifted advisors in the APCA community, and it is an honor to receive this prestigious award. One of my Campus Engagement Leaders submitted the nomination, and the organization told me it was very compelling. It feels great to know I have the support of my colleagues and students in our work together.”

“We are so proud of Mike – he always goes above and beyond for our students.  His dedication and commitment to his work is outstanding, and receiving this reward is indicative of his good work and positivity,” said Dr. Anne Hopkins Gross, Vice President for Student Development.

Wacksman serves as the advisor for the Campus Engagement Board, a team of student leaders that develops events and activities for SUNY Cobleskill’s student body. In his 24 years at the College, he has introduced and cultivated countless new student experience opportunities through his career-long personal commitment to elevating campus life.

SUNY Cobleskill has been a member of APCA for more than 20 years. The Association promotes campus engagement through quality educational experiences, affordable entertainment, and community service initiatives.
