Agricultural Power Machinery and Agricultural Power Machinery-John Deere TECH Earn AED Foundation Accreditation

SUNY Cobleskill’s Agricultural Power Machinery and Agricultural Power Machinery-John Deere TECH programs have earned accreditation through the AED Foundation (AEDF), a non-profit foundation for the heavy equipment industry affiliated with Associated Equipment Distributors (AED), the international trade association for equipment distributors, manufacturers, and service providers.

This accreditation recognizes the quality of the College’s Agricultural Power Machinery and John Deere TECH programs and the faculty’s dedication to meeting the evolving needs of the heavy equipment industry and preparing students with the skills and credentials essential for success in the field.

Students in SUNY Cobleskill’s Agricultural Power Machinery Associate degree program can choose from two advisement tracks: John Deere TECH and Power Machinery Technology, both offering real-world industry work experience. The campus is home to one of 18 John Deere-sponsored programs in the United States. Students in the program are sponsored by a John Deere dealership, guaranteeing them employment upon graduation.

Two other programs within the College’s Agricultural Engineering department have previously earned accreditation through AEDF: Diesel Technology and Diesel Technology-John Deere TECH.

“We are very excited that all Associate degree programs in Agricultural Engineering at SUNY Cobleskill are now AEDF accredited,” said Christopher Smith, Associate Professor and John Deere Tech Program Coordinator at SUNY Cobleskill. “This accreditation gives students the opportunity to be certified as AED Technicians, which provides them with another credential as they enter the industry. Having all of our programs accredited by AEDF ensures our college is meeting current industry standards and that our students have a strong level of knowledge about the topics those standards cover.”
