SUNY Cobleskill is ranked among the top schools in the nation across several categories in U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Colleges rankings. The College moved up the charts in key categories of Top Public Schools, Best Regional College’s North, and Top Performers on Social Mobility. SUNY Cobleskill also retained its position in the top five Best Colleges for Veterans. The 2025 rankings and comparisons are listed below.
U.S. News and World Report, the global authority in education rankings, released its annual guide this week. The college rankings are based on data including first-year student retention, tuition cost, graduation rate, and peer assessment scores. In creating its lists, the publication analyzes nearly 1,500 colleges.

Ranking schools that participate in federal initiatives helping veterans and active-duty service members pay for their degrees. (Ranked #5 in 2024)
#7 in Top Public Schools (tie)
Ranking public colleges and universities that operate under the supervision of state governments and are funded, in part, by tax dollars and subsidies from the state. (Ranked #8 in 2024)
#8 in Top Performers on Social Mobility
Ranking colleges on their success in advancing social mobility by enrolling and graduating large proportions of disadvantaged students awarded with Pell Grants. (Ranked #13 in 2024)
#10 in Regional Colleges North (tie)
Ranking colleges that focus on undergraduate education but grant fewer than half their degrees in liberal arts disciplines. (Ranked #12 in 2024)
#16 in Best Value Schools in the North
The calculation takes into account a school’s academic quality, as indicated by its 2025 U.S. News Best Colleges ranking, and the 2023-2024 net cost of attendance for an out-of-state student who received the average level of need-based financial aid. (Ranked #12 in 2024)
