SUNY Cobleskill is thrilled to announce the appointment of Laura Gross ‘95 as its Vice President for Finance and Operations, effective July 1. Gross brings over two decades of progressive experience within the SUNY system to her new role and has worked at the College since 2010, most recently as Director of Business Affairs and Controller. As VPFO, she will lead the campus’ Business and Fiscal Affairs, Facilities Management, Information Technology, and Sustainability divisions.
“Laura has earned tremendous respect from colleagues throughout her career as a thoughtful and conscientious business officer,” said Dr. Marion Terenzio, President of SUNY Cobleskill. “Her deep institutional knowledge, combined with her experience at the SUNY system level, finely positions her to lead our finance and operations areas. As a campus, we are confident her leadership will strengthen our institution’s financial administration and operational effectiveness.”
Throughout her career, Gross has amassed expertise in comprehensive financial operations, including expenditure management, cash flow forecasting, fund balance oversight, and supervision of professional staff across multiple organizational entities as Deputy Operations Manager of the Research Foundation and Treasurer of the Cobleskill Auxiliary Services Corporation.
Her career foundation was built during eight years (2002-2010) with SUNY System Administration, where she served as Contract Administrator and Assistant University Energy Manager, overseeing system-wide contract procurements and administering the SUNY Energy Buying Group.
“I’m excited to build on the strong foundation of fiscal stewardship we’ve established here at the College, especially under my retiring predecessor, Wendy Gilman. Working collaboratively across campus, I look forward to identifying new ways to enhance our efficiency and the experience of our students. This role represents an opportunity to apply strategic decision-making across all of our operational service areas in ways that directly benefit our campus and the larger community who enjoys the resources and opportunities SUNY Cobleskill has to offer.”
Gross is also a champion martial artist with an extensive competitive record spanning multiple disciplines. Her achievements include being a two-time Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) National Taekwondo Team Member and six-time AAU Taekwondo National Champion, and four-time IBJJF European Champion. She captured gold at the 2022 World Open Taekwondo Championship, earned a silver medal at the 2023 Asian Pacific Masters Games, and most recently took bronze at the 2025 World Masters Games. She owns Cobleskill Taekwondo & Martial Arts, LLC, and co-owns Cobleskill Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, aka Team Jucao Cobleskill, in Cobleskill.
