The Graphic Design Technology program at SUNY Cobleskill Ag & Tech invites community members to the opening of Jenny Hutchinson’s “Layer by Layer” exhibition at the Grosvenor Art Gallery in Old Gym. Hutchinson, a native New Yorker, draws much of her inspiration from the natural world, appreciating its beauty, resilience, and adaptability.
“The flowing lines and irregular shapes of the organic imagery invites abstraction and transforms my drawings into low relief sculptures,” says Hutchinson in her artist’s statement. “Using mylar, assorted papers, and mixed media, I create an interlocking puzzle of recognizable and ambiguous shapes. The resulting layered and lifted structures reimagine the landscape into a new dynamic scene.”
This Friday’s opening event offers community members the opportunity to meet Hutchinson and experience her vibrant depictions of nature, as well as join in a reception with light refreshments, provided by students of the College’s Culinary Arts Management program.
