Dr. Salvador Rivera, professor of social sciences at SUNY Cobleskill Ag & Tech, has published his second book, “The Fragmented Nation: A Political History of Latin American Societies” (McFarland & Company), available now.
Dr. Rivera offers an in-depth analysis of modern Latin American political development, exploring how fragmentation and regional integration have shaped societies across the globe. His research sheds light on the enduring influence of colonial legacies, the tension between national and regional identities, and the evolving economic and diplomatic relationships within Latin America and beyond.
In developing “The Fragmented Nation” and other works, Rivera has conducted extensive research using materials from the CIA, U.S. State Department, Council on Foreign Relations, and multiple archival collections, including the Javits Special Collections at Stony Brook and the Frei Archives. His work also draws from books, scholarly articles, and oral interviews. In addition to his publications, Rivera has delivered numerous public talks on Latin American economic integration and contributed book reviews on Latin American history.
