Cobleskill Ag & Tech Named Top College in New York for Veterans by Military Times

The Military Times has named SUNY Cobleskill Ag & Tech as the top college in New York State for student veterans in its 2025 “Best for Vets: Colleges” rankings. The College ranked 37th overall among 357 schools recognized nationwide, the largest field in the rankings’ 15-year history.

“We are honored to be recognized by Military Times as a top institution for veterans and military-affiliated students,” said Dr. Marion Terenzio, president of SUNY Cobleskill Ag & Tech. “The immersive, experiential academics we provide align naturally with the real-world skills and leadership experience that veterans bring to campus, and we continue to focus on providing the comprehensive support that will help our student veterans translate their military service into academic and career success.”

Military Times’ annual rankings honor the country’s top colleges and universities for military service members and veterans. The rankings evaluate U.S. higher education institutions based on student success metrics, programs, training and support infrastructure for military-affiliated students. They are designed to “help transitioning service members find schools that not only welcome veterans but actively invest in their success,” Military Times wrote in its news release on the rankings.

In its evaluation, Military Times highlighted Cobleskill Ag & Tech’s student support offerings for military-affiliated students, including priority class registration, dedicated veterans admissions counseling, acceptance of military transcripts, and financial assistance programs. The college participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program and offers admission fee waivers for veterans and military affiliates.

The college’s support for veterans extends beyond campus through partnerships with local organizations, including the Schoharie County Veteran’s Discount Program and free transportation to the Albany VA Hospital. On campus, veterans benefit from parking fee waivers, borderline application reviews, wellness and academic support services, and access to the campus Veterans Resource Center. The College’s Student Veteran Association is a student-run organization that is an official chapter of the Student Veterans of America (SVA).
