SUNY has published its systemwide 2016 Year in Review, and SUNY Cobleskill has much to be proud of. From our groundbreaking applied learning requirement and new degree programs to our women's cross country team winning its eighth consecutive NEAC championship, 2016 was a year of bold growth and achievement at SUNY Cobleskill. Applied Learning

SUNY Cobleskill is elevating its role as a destination for hands-on education with a new applied learning requirement for all students beginning in the fall of 2017. The new policy, which requires students to complete at least three credits of applied learning, will guarantee that all SUNY Cobleskill students graduate with practical experience. The credits will come from a list of designated applied learning courses that include internships, practicums, field experiences, laboratory experiences, and capstone courses with research components.

New Programs

SUNY Cobleskill launched its innovative Food Systems & Technology degree program in response to the growing demand for professionals who understand the processes, businesses and policies that get food from farm to plate all over the world. Our new Applied Fermentation and Fermentation Science degree programs will educate and train students in the field of harnessing microbes to help produce a vast array of products, from beer, wine, and cheese to plastics and pharmaceuticals beginning in the fall of 2017. And our four-year Bachelor of Technology Degree program in Therapeutic Horsemanship, unique in New York, is already up and running. The program trains professionals in the practice of using interaction with horses to help people with special needs overcome physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges.

SURC 2016

More than 500 students and faculty from across the SUNY and CUNY systems mingled at SUNY Cobleskill as they presented their research in the Second Annual SUNY Undergraduate Research Conference. The conference featured 190 poster presentations and a full day of oral presentations— 95 of them— highlighting some of the best the SUNY system has to offer.

Cross Country Champs

The SUNY Cobleskill women's cross country team won their eighth consecutive North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championship, a conference record, at the 2016 NEAC Championships hosted by Lancaster Bible College in October.
